Meet the ahlivv Team: ahlivv Pro – Skier
Sarah Burke is a busy lady. She wins super pipe and slopestyle contests from Dew Tour to X games. We are keeping our fingers crossed this year that Sarah Burke will not only win the women’s ski superpipe championship at the x-games, but that she will also complete her profile. Sarah’s busy, what can we say? Some day. In the mean time, we will plan to track her down at the Winter X Games in Aspen, CO January 22nd-26th. Pretty sure she will be there. Stay tuned…

Spotlight on Sarah Burke
Hannah Kearney ahlivv Pro – Skier
Age: 22Hometown: Norwich, VT
Home Mountain: Waterville Valley, NH
How old/where were you when you first got on skis? 2 years old, before I can remember, but my mom was diligent about taking home video. My parents taught me to ski, using our large horse’s halter as a harness. Once I could ski off the leash, I refused to wear goggles or gloves. I guess I wanted to feel the wind in my face.
What do you most love about skiing? I love that skiing starts as a family activity and is a lifetime sport.
Siblings? I have a 20 year old brother who plays hockey at Yale University.
Biggest moment of accomplishment? Winning Junior Worlds to make the U.S. Ski Team was an important moment in my career.
What is currently on your ipod? I have been listing to Ray LaMontagne, Brett Dennen and Peter Gabriel recently.
What are your goals/plans for this season? I want to stay healthy, compete in every competition and ski to the
best of my ability.Who’s your usual ski crew? The U.S. Mogul team. We train, travel and compete together.
Current Sponsors? ahlivv, Tecnica boots, Volkl skis, Marker bindings, helmet and goggles, and Tyson Food
Accolades/Awards? 2005 World Champion is the biggest title I have.
Craziest thing you’ve done on skis? I have taken a couple of bad crashes when I have done a poor take off for a backflip, so I guess the craziest thing I have done is a 1/2 backflip.
If you were on the MTV show Made, what would you want to be made into? A dancer. I love that show, “So You Think You Can Dance” but I don’t like to dance myself and I think that is because I have no idea how.
Favorite Mountain? Jay Peak, VT
Favorite après ski location? Home
If you were an animal, what would you be? A horse

I am passionate, straight to the point, and outgoing; but also serious, funny and feisty. I’m inspired by those with character, spirituality, values, ambition, drive, grace, dreams and passion. I am competitive and a true example of strength mixed with traditional values. Growing up with a very modest upbringingin Texas has instilled strong conviction and appreciation for live, love, and the ability to find pleasures in the simplest things.
I am passionate about overcoming my fears, taking care of myself mentally and physically, thinking outside the box and being out of my comfort zone every day – and conquering that moment.
I’m a firm believer that deep down, everyone just needs a Hug.
I am of Egyptian and Spanish heritage and I always knew that would help me be unique. As a little girl, I danced jazz, tap and ballet with my twin sister. I began my snow career as a weekend warrior with trips to Keystone and Breckenridge. Found my love and excelled quickly and obsessively.
First Time: My 1st year snowboarding was pretty intense. I didn’t have friends that loved it as much as I do so I
would drive up alone, usually to Keystone, and I taught myself to ride, turn, and have fun. Before long I was hitting small bumps/jumps on the runs trying to catch air. Then one day I ran into the park and was like “I want to do THAT!”First Jib: My first time hitting a box, I was in Breck. It was Thanksgiving morning and I had snuck away from family and friends to get some runs in. I decided that day I would ride a box for the first time. I just couldn’t move away from it. After staring for what seemed like an eternity, I decided I was going in. As soon as I jumped onto the feature, I caught my edge and went downhard – on my face. I could feel that I had an instant black eye so I dug my face into the snow to help stop the swelling. After managing to hold back a few tears, I got up and hiked back up to the top. I strapped in terrified but determined and I cleaned the box my second time. I could hear the cheers from the group in the park as I rode away. I knew right then there was no turning back!
Sponsors: ahlivv(YAY!), Shred Betties, ADD Video Productions, my work with Vail Resorts!
08-09 Season Goals: Ride and Film with GIRLS. Stomp 270 on and 270 out on rails, spin off big jumps, place well in local high visibility comps (such as Volcom Peanut Butter & Rail Jam). I would also like to Film Unique Terrain and bring Girls Riding in the backcountry to the forefront (Steep bowls, chutes, cornices, cliff drops, and log rides). Hobbies: Powder days, surf and skate when not snowboarding, fitness, long mountain hikes with Bella, my Rottweiler, Camping, golf, learning something new, being aware and thankful each and every day.

Snowboarding has been the main passion in my life for as long as I remember. I have been competitive in the sport of snowboarding for the past three years. Snowboarding has truly made me who I am today. Strapping on my board, turning my music up and simply cruising down the mountain is
the greatest way to start your day off, which is why I choose to keep the mountains as my backyard. My passion for snowboarding and other solo sports lets me control the situation at hand, leaving endless opportunities for my mind to travel and think. I love the mountains, and I love the freedom the mountains provide me whenever there is any negativity in my life. Even though the sport is based on individual choice and decision, it’s a great way to interact and get to know all different kinds of people.
I am what you call an adrenaline junkie. I surround myself with sports that keep my heart rate up such as, skydiving, long boarding, and cliff jumping. Of these sports, snowboarding is my favorite, for many reasons, including traveling, meeting people, and exploring the great outdoors. Snowboarding has always challenged me, that is what I like the most. Everyday trying to progress, and make my riding style smoother.
The music that really gets me in the mood to charge it on the mountain usually are The Sounds, Shiny Toy Guns and reggae. Basically anything that gets my head in the right state of appreciation when riding. You never want to take anything in your surroundings for granted.
