A boardslide is the second progressive step in hitting rails or boxes on your snowboard. The first step is to 50/50 the rail, which is simply sliding the feature parallel. A boardslide will allow you to progress into sliding the rail backwards or spinning. When I was learning how to boardslide I was very intimidated by doing an ollie into a boardslide. I learned the wrong way which was doing an ollie onto the box 50/50 then rotating my body to make my board perpendicular to the box. With my ‘How To Boardslide’, I will hopefully teach you the right way… and the steezy way, since that is the most important part of snowboarding, right?

The ollie is the most important, basic and fundamental trick in snowboarding, or skateboarding. Snowboarding without knowing how to ollie is, well, not really snowboarding because it’s the foundation that all other tricks are based on. Unfortunately, I spent my first 5-6 years snowboarding doing it completely wrong. See here’s the thing, doing an ollie is not simply jumping up and down on your snowboard (I know, I was shocked too). To properly perform an ollie, you take advantage of your snowboard and use that to propel you higher than you could hope to jump alone. Having a solid ollie will take you anywhere you want to go with your snowboard – jumps, big spins, urban on rails, spinning on rails – the possibilities are endless.
