As we walked into Day 2 at SIA, and reviewed our meeting schedule, I noticed we had a meeting with Nomis that afternoon. As I read it off to Allyson and Ashley, someone overheard us and said “Nomis? What’s Nomis?”. Now, to those of you in the know, I’m sure you’re chuckling away, because Nomis is no small potatoes in the world of snowboarding. Not only was Nomis started by pro snowboarder Simon Chamberlain, and his two brothers, Andre and Matt, but their outerwear includes design collaboration from three of the best designers in the snow industry – Trent Bush, Jordan Grace and Jeremy Osmond. And, if you’re wondering what the heck a ‘Nomis’ is? Here’s a little nugget of info for you…it’s Simon spelled backwards, as in Simon Chamberlain…clever, huh? I was surprised myself. The brand is based around Simon’s vision of creating outerwear that reflects street style. And Nomis has it dialed.
Matt walked us through the outerwear and street lines at SIA that day, and we were stoked. Bold colors and patterns,
mixed with straight up quality and functionality are making Nomis one of my top faves this year for sure. They have found the balance of reaching girl style, without going too girly, urban style, but still snowboarding centered. And, even better, they’ve just launched a site specifically for girls. So, don’t be afraid of male domination. These guys get it, and their girls’ outerwear and street designs speak for themselves. It’s obvious that these guys realize how important girls snowboarding is, and how important it is for ahlivv girls to find unique otuerwear that speaks to their style. That’s what I love most – the peeps at Nomis understand the fashion side, without compromising quality and on-hill technical features. We are stoked to carry Nomis and Sound on ahlivv.com for the 09-10 season.
Not convinced yet? Nomis is also part of Familia Distribution, which includes Technine, Sound, Nomis, Advita and Vas. And, anything Marc Frank Montoya stands behind is probably pretty legit. He’s kind of a big deal.
