TS Board Shop is yes, “core,” as in they have the experts. The real-deal guys like Bryan and Doug are experts when it comes to any skateboard or snowboard purchase and they will certainly also entertain any “core” gear chat sesh. They even sometimes get their lounge on… core shop style. But let’s face it, “core” shops can be ueber intimidating, especially for women like myself who 75% of the time just want to peruse the style side of board sports. We want to check out the racks, hope to find that unique and perfectly “me” piece of garb to don on our next outing – to the slopes or beach or mostly just kicking back around town. I have never liked “core” shops, that is, until I entered TS Board Shop.
Towards the end of strip of South Broadway where kitschy shops intermix with posh eats, TS seems pretty unassuming, sometimes barely noticeably but for the giant TS sign just south of Kitty’s. With a parking lot out front (THANK YOU parking), even getting there is a joy. (more…)
As I’m sitting here thinking about the past season, and yet again how quickly the snow comes and goes, remembering the pow, runs, tricks, and days on the hill – overall the one thing I just cannot forget is THE PEOPLE. Seems year in and year out whether I’m riding with my typical crew, meeting new folks or taking a day out alone – each year it’s the people that truly make my season and keep me coming back for more. It takes me back to an unforgettable quote I found in Transworld Snowboarding Photo Issue 2009 (transworldsnowboarding.com) that sums up the feeling unremarkably….
“One day, when you’re stuck at some job you were sure you’d love, or you’re fighting some war in a distant desert, or you’re so damn old you’re farting dust, what you’ll recall with the greatest clarity and fondness is not what tricks you did or which video was the best – you’ll remember your people. Your friends and family – or the friends that became family- your partners in crime, your community- this is what you’ll remember. Never has there been a girl who is as true to herself and as committed to her sport as Hannah. Watching the Final Women’s Moguls, we ahlivv Girls were cheering at the top of our lungs.. and we had chills up and down! She is so RAD! And now she has far more than an olympic montage – she has OLYMPIC GOLD. WOW! The first US GOLD Medal. Hannah is such a rock star. TRULY INSPIRING!!!
And we also found this gem — Kearney’s skiing since 1997. Love it. Its really cool…. 12 years of dedication and what it takes to make it to the top of the olympic podium. The best is the coach to…. “Yey Hannah.” We feel the same way.

An ahlivv Girl Goes Green: An Introduction To The Trials & Tribulations of Going Green.
This is a series of ongoing tales about my experience as I “go green.” It is meant to be a resource and guide for each and every ahlivv girl out there who aspires to live a green existence.
For me, each step of the way towards going green has meant much more than I anticipated. I have learned, questioned, been totally grossed out, and I have also annoyed everyone in my family and anyone who just wants to “throw it” in the trash.
During the many trials and tribulations of becoming a more environmentally responsible earthling, I continue to learn, discover and find myself in awe of all the things I didn’t know about consumption, energy – and the excess of everyday life.
In uncovering books, blogs, organizations and more -you learn that “green” encompasses far more than conveniently opting to recycle instead of “pitch it.” There is a whole new way of life just beyond the green label. And so the journey is looking beyond what’s right in front of us. It is about truly, deeply and wholly become a mindful, conscientious, environmentally friendly human. After some time of exploration, I started to wonder about the possibility of actually going green? Is it really truly humanly possible without becoming vegan, living on a commune with a community garden and making capri pants out of rice sacks? Still up for debate. So hopefully we will find out.
We just think she is amazing. She was an ahlivv girl. She may not still be a part of the ahlivv team but she is in our hearts!! Check out what people magazine said about her after her HUGE medal win.
When she was a little girl learning how to ski in New Hampshire, Hannah Kearney tried the traditional events – slalom and racing, but she came to a quick conclusion. They were boring. Instead, she turned to the freestyle and won four junior world titles in moguls.
She added to the trophy case Saturday. Standing at the top of the mogul course, a light snow falling around her and a wild Canadian crowd of 7,500 roaring after country favorite Jennifer Heil just laid down a terrific run to take over first place, Kearny, 23, now of Norwich, Vt., thought, “I have to ski the best run of my life.”
She did, negotiating 200 meters of bumps and jumps to score a 26.63 on her way to winning America’s first gold medal of the Vancouver Games.

Have you ever had that feeling when you walk into a shop where you felt nervous and anxious and excited all at once? You know the feeling where you start trying to limit your spending amount, while simultaneously rationalizing a big overspend. If you are nodding yes, than you understand how I felt today as I was checking out the new Gentle Fawn Spring and Summer line. I was greeted at the doorway of the ahlivv warehouse by a stack of cardboard boxes. This type of thing is not an abnormal occurrence in a retail warehouse. But, this time was different. I usually try to reserve my ’shopping’ for after work hours because, well, I have to get my work done. And when shopping gets involved, work just does not happen. Also, we have to run a tight ship around here to stay organized. Imagine if all of us just rummaged through all of our product in search of the right buy every time we felt the urge? It would be madness, and I even find myself twitching when someone begins to check out the new inventory before it’s been sorted. But, regardless of my better judgement and rules of thumb, I found myself knee-deep in a pile of bright and vibrant colored fabrics. What were they? And how would I decide which things I had to have?! Let me answer one question at a time. The beautiful stash at my feet was the new Gentle Fawn Spring and Summer collection. It had just returned to the warehouse from our ahlivv photoshoot. So, alas, I would not have to search the boxes! My job for the day would be uploading our new images…so, I would be looking at Gentle Fawn pics all day, and this would make it easier for me to narrow my choices!
